Contents / review: What the hell? Another apocalyptical thriller from the (nightmare-)dream
factory Holly wood? This time the devil has taken posession of Gabriel Byrne and has brought along a strong sexual desire for young Christine.

Notice:everything is about the biblical prophecy that the Devil will return at the end of the Millenium in Order to cease control of the World. And for that he needs a chose one who is to concieve the Antichrist. Got it? And because Byrne plays the devil with such a hot temper, you really ask yourself: "Who's gonna stopp'im?" The answer lies at hand:Dear Arnold, saviour from and cause of so many evils on this Planet.

But he has never fought against that some evil opponents, of which the devil is only one. What is even more diabolical (for the movie) is the fact that our beloved hero has to play a broke-down-divorced-and-prey-to-alcoholismical drop-out. Poor Arnie-not even the strongest man could stand the flipping form martialistic to virtually kleenexious scenes.
And honestly: Regarding the age of ex-terminator Arnold, You simply no longer believe all these pursuits, skirmishes and other athletic peak-performances. Nevertheless, the film calls a certain mythically exaggerated tension its own, unless it is not interrupted by unfitting wild shooting-scenes and other dusty motives from the attic of movie.
When the film's pace slows down a bit, mostly when power- and courageless clergymen celebrate strange rites, fear ceases the spectator and the film "functions",last but not least because of the gloomy scenes that are counter-cut with New York´s Millenium-Party.
